Racehorse Art - Bronze Horse Sculptures

Racehorse statues & Bronze Horse Sculptures by Western Artist Kim Corpany.

Buy Bronze Racehorse Sculptures Direct from the artist.

Kim Corpany's horse sculptures and equine art is all created and cast in the USA by an American artist and a US Bronze Foundry.

Why buy American made Bronze Sculpture?

Buying American made bronze sculptures gives a quality assurance of the artwork you are purchasing.

The reasons that the price of bronze sculptures imported from Mexico, South America, or Asia are so low include:
-quality of the bronze metal used in the sculpture
-quality of craftsmanship
-working conditions
-cost of labor in these countries.

The minimum standard for bronze in the United States of America is 90% copper.  Imported bronze usually tests at only 50% to 55% copper.

The quality of the bronze effects the resilience of the bronze sculpture as well as its ability to accept patina.  Cheap imported bronze sculptures will generally not hold up to weather well, it's color taking on a corrosive residue quickly because of the low copper content in the bronze, sometimes even rusting depending on the metal content.  Any repair work needed on poor quality bronze sculpture is nearly impossible. While high quality bronze can generaly be readily repaired or refurbished.
Our foundry uses high quality silicon bronze with 95% copper 4%
manganese and 1% silicon.
The standard for American bronze sculptures.

Because Kim's bronze horse sculptures are cast of this high quality US bronze, and they are made in the time honored process of lost wax bronze casting, they have the potential to last thousands of years and the patina of these bronze sculptures is lasting and beautiful.

Seabiscuit & George Woolf

"MORNING WORKOUT"
Bronze sculpture of jockey George Woolf breezing Seabiscuit in a morning workout.

BRONZE RACEHORSE SCULPTURE   STATUE OF SEABISCUIT GALLOPING WITH JOCKEY GEORGE WOOLF EQUINE ART

This bronze sculpture of Seabiscuit with George “The Iceman” Woolf
was created after Marcela Howard’s favorite photograph of the great horse.
The photo was taken of the Biscuit and Woolf breezing down the track in a “Morning Workout”  at
Del Mar just prior to his famous match race against Ligaroti.  This was the build-up to the greatest match race of all time against War Admiral at Pimlico on November 1, 1938.
Kim Corpany and Stan Watts of Atlas Bronze Casting have faithfully captured the magic of the Biscuit and George Woolf in this bronze.  I have worked closely with the artists to make sure that this piece accurately reflects the spirit of Seabiscuit and one of the men who so closely shared his spectacular victories.

Part of the proceeds from the sales of this bronze statue of Seabiscuit go toward the Seabiscuit Heritage Foundation (which strives to preserve the Biscuit’s home at Ridgewood Ranch) and the Frank R. Howard Foundation (the hospital built by Charles S. Howard, in 1928, in memory of his son Frank Howard) in Willits, California.

Part of the proceeds from the sales of this statue goes to the Seabiscuit Heritage Foundation.

On behalf of my great-grandparents, and the Howard family, I know that you will enjoy these superb pieces of art for generations to come, just as we have all enjoyed the spectacular story of this amazing horse and inspiring American legend.  Long Live the Memory of Seabiscuit!

with jockey George Woolf is available as a limited edition of 75 pieces.

Kim Corpany and Stan Watts worked in concert to create this remarkable  bronze statue of Seabiscuit and George Woolf.
By working as a team both artists were allowed to concentrate on their individual areas of strength.
Miss Corpany created the portrait of Seabiscuit, and Mr. Watts captured the likeness of George M. Woolf.

Barbara Howard and Col. Mike Howard unveiling the bronze at Seabiscuit's 75th birthday party at Ridgewood Ranch located near Willits, Ca.  Seated is Jacqueline Cooper representing the Seabiscuit Heritage Foundation.

Kim Corpany and Stan Watts would like to thank the following for their generous and invaluable help, direction and attention to detail in making this bronze sculpture “Morning Workout” featuring the great Thoroughbred stallion Seabiscuit and jockey George Woolf breezing on the racetrack a reality:
  • Col. Mike Howard
  • Barbara Howard
  • Tracy Livingston - Seabiscuit Heritage Foundation
  • Jacqueline Cooper - Seabiscuit Heritage Foundation
  • Laura Hillenbrand - Author of "Seabiscuit - An American Legend"

Laura Hillenbrand talking about the bronze statue of Seabiscuit and George Woolf:

When I saw it, I gasped with delight.  Kim and Stan, you have done a stunning job with this piece; you have captured Seabiscuit just as he was, not just in his form, but in his personality, which radiates outward in such an authentic way.  Charles and Marcela Howard would have been thrilled.

My decision to write about Seabiscuit altered the path of my life in myriad ways, the most wonderful of which has been the people to whom this little horse has led me.  Having been the happy recipient of so much goodwill since I began this journey, I can't help but feel undeserving of any such honor as this.  Thank you all so much for all of your generosity.  This statue will grace my home forever, and it will always remind me of the kindness that all of you have shown me and the horse who brought joy to millions.

With profound gratitude,

Laura Hillenbrand
